Sales and Marketing? Not me – I’m an Author!

Sales and Marketing? Not me – I’m an Author!

There are two words that really scare people; sales and marketing. Cries of “ I’m not a sales person” fly across the room as do “ I’m too shy to market my book.”

Firstly, we’re all selling. When I was working with fractured families, young people and children in a multitude of roles, I was selling ideas, the idea of receiving help, making changes, wanting to continue working with me. Now I sell my books and my time so I am selling (whether it was what I intended to do or not). I was one of those people who wanted to say a big yuk at the idea of being in sales as the image of the horrid seedy little man who harassed me back in 2001 in my own home, refusing to leave as he aggressively attempted to sell me windows, came flying back into my mind!

Secondly, if you wrote a book, you need and want to tell people about it so they’ll read it. Simples! That’s marketing. With no background in marketing, I thought it was something elusive and something that other people did.

Actually, it’s about relationship building, connection, responsiveness and quality delivery. Again; simples!

So here I am in Sales and Marketing (still almost wanting to say yuk! Out loud). But it has happened. I like it, I’m good at it and I want you to be good at it too.

That’s why I’ve written a short but no-nonsense guide about how you can become the sales and marketing department of your business, the business of your book and start the learning process of marketing yourself as an author! Just sign up below and grab a cup of your favourite hot beverage and read on!
